Color change

Postby Dblther » Wed Sep 25, 2019 11:17 am

Hello, I’m just wondering what tips or tricks ( other than the normal process) any techs have for drastic color changes that people request. Like from brown to turquoise drastic :?
Thanks

Could you describe your process a bit? What steps you are already taking? It could be that you already know all my tricks... 8-)

Just clean ( no oil signs) , prime with SG4, PR 1 in the areas that are raw, color and top coat with cross linker in it.

One method that may help both with coverage and adhesion is to use a foam brush as you spray on the first coat. The mechanical action of brushing the finish as you spray improves the bond between the leather and the first coat by forcing it into the texture and bridging the gap between droplets. It also allows you to move color along welting, or into seams and creases. I only do this for the first coat because I know my finish bonds well to itself, and using the brush on subsequent coats runs the risk of disturbing previous coats.
